Anthony Ogogo Biography- Anthony Osejua Ojo Ogogo, born 24 November 1988, has never been the type to sit still. From snagging bronze in the middleweight division at the 2012 Olympics to throwing punches professionally between 2013 and 2016, he’s shown he can take a hit and keep moving forward. These days, he’s making waves in wrestling with All Elite Wrestling as part of Shane Taylor Promotions and shaking up England’s RevPro, proving the ring isn’t just for boxing anymore. And because life clearly isn’t complete without a twist, he even swapped gloves for sequins on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015—an unexpected detour that’s messy, bold, and entirely Ogogo: unapologetically himself, daring to defy whatever anyone thought he “should” be doing.

Early Life

Ogogo, born to an English mother and a Nigerian father, grew up surrounded by sport, chasing every opportunity he could. As a kid, he dove into Norwich City’s Football in the Community programs, which eventually earned him a trial and a spot on their youth team—a small win at the time, but one that hinted early on at the stubborn drive and grit that would define everything he did later.

Anthony Ogogo competed within the middleweight division as a professional boxer for a total of four years. As one of the most talked-about and prized fighters in Britain, Anthony can make a large impact on any audience at events of conferences whilst also providing an insightful and educational speech that can revolve around anything from achieving peak performance to the history of British boxing. An adolescent with a keen interest in sports, Ogogo was initially more interested in football and played for a variety of community courses set up by Norwich City.

Early career

Ogogo trained in World Association Of Wrestling where he debuted in February 2019 in a tag match teaming with Steve Quintain in defeat Villman and Villman #3. All Elite Wrestling (2021-present) Ogogo trained with AEW’s Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall at their Nightmare Factory wrestling school prior to his debut made on the April 14 episode of AEW Dynamite. Ogogo made his pay-per-view debut at Double Or Nothing during which he lost a singles match against his former trainer Cody Rhodes.

With the club striking an interested in his natural sportsmanship, Anthony completed a trial with them and eventually began playing for their youth team. Boxing wise, he began training at the young age of 12 and therefore managed to build up an incredible skill set that took him to compete at the 2004 Junior Olympics in Texas. A holder of a gold medal by the age of 16, it became apparent very early on that he had a huge amount of potential in the boxing career.

About

An English boxer who made waves on the international stage, he snagged Silver for England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games before stepping it up to claim Bronze at the 2012 Olympics—a path marked not just by medals, but by the grind, bruises, early mornings, and stubborn persistence it takes to stand in the ring when everyone else doubts you.

He finally became a professional boxer in late 2012 after his Olympic performance attracted the attention of promotional companies including Golden Boy Promotions who signed him. After competing in 12 fights and almost keeping a clean slate with only one loss to his name, Ogogo’s career came to a halt when he became registered blind in 2017 after fracturing his eye socket in a match against Cunningham. With huge hesitation and a remaining desire to become a world champion, he was forced to retire at the age of 30.

Before Fame

Born in Lowestoft, he made an early mark in the sporting world by snagging Gold at the Junior Olympics in 2004—a moment that wasn’t just about a medal, but the payoff for countless early mornings, scraped knees, and stubborn determination that only a teenager obsessed with winning could survive.

Since then his passion for sports and determination has taken him to begin a professional career in wrestling. After making his debut in 2019 for the World Association of Wrestling, he worked with the legendary Cody Rhodes to contribute to his YouTube series, The Road to Double or Nothing, which sheds light on the stories of AEW fighters.

Trivia

In 2008, he threw himself into the unpredictable world of reality TV with Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, proving he wasn’t afraid of a little chaos or the public eye. Around the same time, he also stepped into modeling, even posing nude for Attitude magazine—bold, unapologetic, and a little bit shocking, but entirely in character for someone who doesn’t exactly do “safe.”
