Charlotte Flair Biography: Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr born April 5, 1986 is an American professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE where she performs on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Charlotte Flair. Flair is a second-generation wrestler, being the daughter of the legendary Ric Flair. She made her first appearance in professional wrestling in 1993 alongside her father in World Championship Wrestling.
Although the pair have been aligned on WWE programming at times over the years, she has done a good job to distance herself from being just “Ric Flair’s daughter”, carving out her own legacy and earning the reputation for being one of the best female wrestlers of all time. It is very easy to see that Charlotte Flair is one of the tallest wrestlers in WWE’s women’s division. Aside from perhaps Raquel Rodriguez, Flair is up there with the largest female performers. She uses her long legs to her advantage, with a powerful big boot, arching into the Figure Eight submission move, and getting greater height from her signature moonsault. Standing at 5’10, Flair towers over many of her opponents in WWE.
Charlotte Flair Biography
Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr, better known as Charlotte Flair, is wrestling royalty in her own right. Being Ric Flair’s daughter could have been a heavy shadow, but she stepped into WWE’s NXT in 2013 and quickly made it clear she wasn’t just coasting on her last name—winning the NXT Women’s Championship in 2014 and snagging PWI’s Rookie of the Year felt like her announcing, “I belong here.” By 2015, she moved to the main roster.
Charlotte Flair has been steadily building a legacy for herself over the last decade, and is arguably the most prominent female star that WWE has on its roster today, and perhaps even their biggest female superstar of all time for that matter. With plenty of big matches, main events, and titles to her name, Flair is among the most successful names in WWE full stop. With Flair being at the level she is, fans will want to know plenty about her, both about her life outside of the ring, her professional wrestling career, and some other facts and figures too such as her age and height.

Early Life
Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr was born on April 5, 1986, David, and a younger brother, Reid, whose tragic death in 2013 left a mark no one could ignore. Even as a teen, she had a fire for competition, leading Providence High School. There are a sea of wrestlers who first appeared in WCW before WWE, though many fans might not know that Charlotte Flair is one of them. Of course, this was prior to her receiving an ounce of professional wrestling training or trying to enter the business for herself. Ric Flair’s family was sometimes involved in WCW storylines, and Charlotte Flair could be seen in his house, in vignettes, and in other scenarios too. She appeared at ringside and once tried to get physical during a match which saw Vince Russo & David Flair take on Ric Flair in a handicap match, though she was restrained by security.
College took her from Appalachian State, where she played volleyball in 2005 and 2006, to NC State, where she graduated with a degree in public relations in 2008 and even became a certified personal trainer—practical skills before diving into the chaos of professional wrestling. She was already soaking in the wrestling world before stepping in herself, like when she was at ringside in December 2004 in her hometown for a WWE Women’s Championship match between Lita and Trish Stratus, quietly watching legends in action and maybe realizing the path she was about to claim for herself.
Career
She may be the daughter of 16-time World Champion Ric Flair, but Charlotte Flair is carving out a path of greatness all her own. Displaying a level of athleticism that few Superstars in history can match, Charlotte first captured the attention of the WWE Universe with the type of statement victory that’s rarely been seen before or since. With her father watching, Charlotte defeated Natalya at NXT TakeOver to win an eight-woman tournament on May 29, 2014, becoming the new NXT Women’s Champion in the process. In the months that followed, the self-proclaimed “genetically superior athlete” turned back one challenger after another, helping cement the Women’s Division as one of the most competitive in all of sports-entertainment. Soon, Charlotte made her long-awaited debut on Raw, helping to usher in a genuine women’s evolution in WWE.
Charlotte Flair WWE Accomplishments
On top of that, she has won many titles numerous times, making her the single most decorated female superstar of all time with 14 world titles to her name. Although some of her title reigns have been short and arguably pointless, her tally is still the most impressive in WWE history.
For many professional wrestlers, they begin their careers competing on the independent scene before they make it to the big leagues. But, for Charlotte Flair, she has never competed outside of WWE. Her career began when she started in NXT. Flair made her in-ring wrestling debut on October 25, 2012. Her first match was a battle royal on an NXT live show. A Royal Rumble win is one of the biggest achievements that anyone in WWE can achieve. Very few have managed to capture a win more than once. However, Flair very recently joined an exclusive club of names that have managed to outlast 29 other names to win it.
Professional Wrestling Career
Charlotte Flair burst onto NXT last summer as a babyface, immediately making a statement by beating Bayley in her very first match—she wasn’t just another rookie, she was a force. At first, she teamed with Bayley, even standing up for her against the Beautiful Fierce Females (Summer Rae and Sasha Banks), but it quickly became clear that Charlotte’s patience for Bayley’s endless optimism was thin. One week later, in a tag match against the BFFs, she shockingly turned on Bayley, letting Sasha pin her and officially marking Charlotte’s heel turn.
By May 2014, she entered an eight-woman tournament for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship and steamrolled her way to the finals, beating Natalya to claim her first WWE title on May 29. She defended it successfully against Bayley, holding the belt for an impressive 258 days before losing it in a Fatal 4-Way match to Sasha Banks, proving early on that she could dominate, manipulate, and tell a story in the ring with brilliance and flair.

| Controversies | • Back in 2008, Charlotte was arrested for assaulting a police officer. She plead guilty to the charges and was sentence to 45 days of imprisonment. However, the punishment was later suspend and the ‘future genetically superior athlete’ got away with ‘supervise probation’ and a fine of $200. • Like many other WWE superstars, Charlotte fell victim to a “hack-attack” when her private photos were stolen and leaked online in May 2017. The photos had reportedly shown a nude Charlotte taking multiple selfies in front of a mirror with her cell phone. |
